CELEBRATION OF HOCKEY IN CLAYTON NIGHT
On Saturday February 9th, the TIHA hosted a “Celebrating Hockey in Clayton Night” at O’Brien’s Restaurant. The event was truly a special night with over 100 people in attendance. On that night long time TIYH members Matt Cipullo and Barry Ingerson were inducted into the Hall of Fame. The Buker Family was recognized with the Angel of TI Youth Hockey award for their unending support of the organization. The night also featured the roll out of the Bonnie Rose / Joe Turcotte Memorial Scholarship Fund. With both Bonnie and Joe's passing during the past year Thousand Islands Youth Hockey lost two very special people who helped chart course of Clayton Minor Hockey / Thousand Islands Youth Hockey during the early years. To commemorate the years of dedication of both Bonnie and Joe made to Clayton the current Board of Directors have created this fund as a lasting legacy. On this special night both members of the Turcotte family and Rose family were in attendance. Heartfelt speeches were delivered by Joe Turcotte, Jeff Rose, Russ Marceau and Beth Bauer on behalf of both Bonnie and Joe. Additionally a two DVD set of a slideshow highlighting the history of Clayton Minor Hockey / Thousand Islands Youth Hockey and a Scrapbook of articles from 1973 - 1998 was sold. All revenue raised from this night and the fund will be used to scholarship children and buy equipment to help less fortunate kids play the game. Mother's Day Flower Sale
The annual Mother's Day Flower Sale was a rousing success. We do still have some beautiful hanging baskets available. Barry Ingerson has given each of the baskets a good dose of T.LC. and they are even more beautiful now than they were on Mother's Day. Barry is selling all left over baskets at his house on Theresa Street during the "Village Wide Garage Sale" on June 14th.
